What is a Hiring Assessment?

It’s no secret that every person is better suited for some jobs than others.  Each of us, with our own DNA and background, is uniquely qualified for certain positions, just as we would fall flat in others.  We’ve all known someone who flies high in sales, but wouldn’t last week as an accountant, or vice versa.  The challenge to managers is finding out which parts of a candidate’s talents and attributes are most prevalent before hiring.

That’s where hiring assessments come in.  By posing questions that reveal each candidate’s individual nature, they allow you to make an educated guess about how a person will do in his or her prospective job.  In other words, instead of relying on a crisp resume or rehearsed interview questions, supervisors can take a peek into the core of a candidate’s personality and motivations.  A hiring assessment isn’t a simple skills test - it’s a window into your candidate’s abilities.
